We sure haven't seen many improvements. What can we do? Well, if you attend our July 13, 2017 EGG meeting, that is just the thing we are going to address. this will be a great opportunity to voice your opinion and help draft some initiatives which we hope to present to various agencies such as VTA to help move things along.

Do you ever wish you could become part of a movement to help restore eco systems right in your own back and front yards, or from your balcony if you are an apartment dweller? Do you wish there was something more you could do to help create habitats for endangered species such as the Bay Checker Spotted Butterfly? If you love native wild nature, love to see native birds and butterflies flying around, if you want to become part of a movement to bring back the essential native eco systems of the Santa Clara Valley and California, then come to the July 27, EGG meeting. At this meeting, you will learn about how the native eco systems within the Santa Clara Valley can be restored one garden at a time. You will also learn about the benefits of planting California native gardens to both native wildlife and to you.

A Meeting and Potluck Hosted By Rod Kirk
Did the first part of the year go by as fast for you as it did for me? Incredible! For those of you not too familiar with EGG, we always do a mid year review in July to reflect on what we have accomplished during the first half of the year. We find that it is a good excuse to also do a potluck. If we're going to work, let's have fun and eat while we are doing it! Please join us. Bring some interesting food and/or drink to share. It will be an opportunity for members to provide ideas for what we would like to accomplish during the second half of 2017.

The Bay Area prides itself of being one of the most environmentally conscious places on Earth. Yet in some locations it's pollution levels make its air hazardous to breathe for its inhabitants. Remarkably, there has been no
emissions cap in place for the Bay Area oil refiners who are responsible for a good part of the Bay Area’s pollution and GHG emissions. Hear how the passing Of Rule 12-16 can be a first step to protecting our air from fossil fuel production until renewable energy is adopted in large scale. Learn about:
- Why Rule 12-16 was proposed
- Why Oil produced from Tar Sands is hazardous to the environment
- How Oil Refineries contribute the Bay Area Air Pollution

The cold weather last winter led to unusually high natural gas bills, and perhaps some sense of guilt. Come and learn about new carbon-free electric heating solutions for homes and businesses. Using clean electricity to replace natural gas for heating saves money in the long run while protecting our environment and future. We willll view a video of a presentation by Pierre Delforge, of the Natural Resources Defense Council, given on May 31, 2017, at the Sunnyvale Sustainability Speaker Series.
