The Sweet Commute
We all feel it. We are all impacted by it. We all hate it. I am talking about our Santa Clara Valley traffic and transportation infrastructure. What can we do to improve the situation? Beverly Turner is going to guide us through an interactive session where we attempt to come up with ideas to resolve these issues. Videos and Discussion On Security Issues In The Cleantech Infrastructure
Our energy infrastructure is gradually changing from the old system that has been in place for 50 years to a more modern efficient, interconnected, and smarter system that is needed to support our future. While this is a great and needed development, it presents opportunities for evil minded people to intrude these systems and cause harm and damage. Today we will view several videos which serve as an introduction to the topic of Cyber Security in the Cleantech Infrastructure. The video talks are presented by several experts in the field of security and provide very interesting background into the security problems we now face and will be facing as we develop our more interconnected infrastructure. We are hoping to collaborate with a company that is an expert in this field and present a more in depth look at this issues we face with Smart Cities in the near future.
Fluoridation has long been accepted by many as a good method of providing tooth decay protection in a consistent easily managed manner. But, is it really such a good thing after all these years? In her presentation, Mei-Ling will guide you through the thinking that led to this almost blindly accepted ritual and present to you some interesting facts which may change the way you think about this common practice.
Join us for this informative presentation and about some important processes which might be affecting your health.
Natural gas production is at an all-time high which has led to the lowest gas prices in a generation. Many suspect the United States will eventually be the world’s largest exporter of Natural Gas. The process of Hydraulic Fracturing has been one of the primary reasons for the abundant supply of natural gas.
The Oil and Gas industry received an exemption to the Clean Water Act in 2005 which is referred to as the Halliburton Loophole. It permits the oil industry not to disclose the content of the chemicals used to extract gas from shale formations. Fracking chemicals are said to be comprised of a toxic mix of over 600 chemicals, many of them are referenced in the Safe Water Drinking Act.
In this presentation I will discuss further what fracking chemicals are composed of and how this would lead to the oil industry needing an exemption and the implication this has for all Americans, especially those living in close proximity of fracking wells. I will cover questions such as:
What has driven the increase in the reliance on natural gas?
How did the oil and gas industries receive an exemption to the Clean Water Act?
Why are hazardous chemicals are needed to extract natural gas in shale deposits?
The components in fracking fluids have caused concerns about our water.
Why fracking is here to stay.
